It has finally happened in that the Palmerston North Panthers did not dominate yet alone win the NZ Superstock Teams Champs It has been 5 years since another team had won on the Palmerston North Track:

In the 1970's I used to visit Manfield Race Track in Fielding when it first opened and watched F5000 Race Cars compete: 40 years later I got to go to the Official Opening meeting of Hampton Downs Raceway which happened to feature F5000 cars: The occasion the Bruce Mclaren Festival : Images of a wide range of International and Kiwi Historic and Iconic Race Cars and Drivers are online Video to Come

Damn the Weather Gods:Travel halfway down the country get a foggy night watching the North Island Stockcars then drive for 2 1/2 hours to Palmerston North find out Global 248 Superstock Challenge is postponed drive 2 1/2 hours back to North Island Stockcars Have that Postponed so drive 5 hours home:

Yet again the Rain Gods played havoc with the Speedway Season:
A fine day was on order for Qualifying at Rotorua for the World 240 Superstock Invitation but the weather came in on Saturday and caused the postponement of the Finals till today: Due to work commitments I've had to leave the Missus and John the Pom down there and pray that it is delayed again till Monday:

After 2 days of Super Saloon Racing a change of pace was in order so I bundled John the Pom into the car and heading him down to Meremere Dirt Track:
As we entered we noticed the Vintage Midget Car Club was running as well so during the lunch break we wandered over there:A few images are mixed in with the Dirt Track Clubs Images that are now online :
There was also a motive for getting John to the Dirt Track and that was the ROOKIE RACE: Targa Keith offered the 651 C HotRod Corolla for the race but after qualifying for the Saloon Feature he promptly tore a wheel off while in 3rd Place: As the Rookie race was straight after a quick sprint to see if Terry Goldboro would loan us the 165 Toyota Levin that I drove last year :

Finally after 3 years I got to see a NZ Super Saloon Title awarded: Over 145 laps to find a Champion Massive Effort and Brillant Racing : The Final Race is now online

After Completing the last 4 nights of Speedway Speedweek : It was decided that we ( Missus and John the Pom and me ) would stop at Taupo on the way home from Napier and take in the Summer National Drag Meet: It was the first time I had been to the Taupo Strip and enjoyed the views and sounds of the Big Boys of NZ Drag Racing despite only watching the Qualifying: Images online :Video of the Doorslammers and Supercharged Outlaws available now
Update: To round off 7 Nights of Speedway in 9 Days It was off to the Hawkes Bay to take in the 2nd night of the North Island Superstock Championship: Images of Support class's online Video of the Champioship to follow
UPDATE: Steve Williams 21H completed a rare feat by winning the NZ Saloon Car Championship to add to his 2005/6 NZ Super Saloon Title:

Update: New Years Eve is normally the DHL Saloon Series at Huntly Speedway :With the Series not running this year Huntly still put on the meeting which gave the Super Saloons another shakedown before the Champs this Friday: Video coming soon
UPDATE :After the rain outs in Wellington my Speedweek got back on course with Midget and Sprintcar Action at Western Springs: International Drivers in the Midgets and Sprintcars :Swindell Father and Son : Allard and Logan: Coons and Elliot : Images are online 3 Videos are also available

Best laid plans are always mucked up by the weather: 9 Nights in 9 Days was put to rest on day 2 with Wellington raining out the first night of NZ Stockcar Teams:It also put paid to the Finals night :So 4 days away for 2 nights racing 50% ratio at present: Got back from Wellington at 1.30am so its now update time
BAYPARK did run their SUPER SALOON SUPER PRIX on the 26th Dec
The Super Saloons were down in numbers slightly but still put on a show: Good to see Nige Mouat debut the new Super in time for NZ's in 10 days:Images are up Video online now
WELLINGTON put on its best drizzly rain to muck up the NZ STOCKCAR TEAMS but the qualifying was completed: Both Video and Images are online

Super Saloons never fail to produce the action and 16 took to the Huntly Speedway last night :They were running for Waikato Super Saloon Championship but it was really a run up event prior to the NZ Champs being held there on 8/9 Jan: Image album is on line :The first of the Super Saloon Heat ighlights is online
